You are here :   HomePage » Aim

The quantity of played ball that we touch is the aimed quantity

TO AIM IS NOT TO TOUCH

The quantity of ball we touch is the double of the aimed quantity

EXAMPLES:

 * I want to touch 1/2 ball thus to touch a point 1/2 radius from the center of the played ball:
I aim 1 radius beside from the center of the played ball

 * I want to touch 3/4 ball thus to touch a point 1/4 radius from the center of the played ball:
I aim 1/2 radius beside from the center of the played ball

Touched and aimed quantity is the same only in the full ahead strokes

We see that aiming the pinp does not give the same point of contact on the played ball.

Full ahead shot

What I aim, I touch it

Half ball aiming shot

I aim at a radius from the center
I touch a point to 1/2 radius from the center

Any aiming

I aim at X CM from the center
I touch a point to X/2 CM from the center

HOW TO AIM IN BILLIARD ?

The classical quantities to aim are illustrated:

Full aim

billard - visée plein bille

Aim in the center of the ball

billard - viser plein bille

3/4

billard - viser trois quart bille

Aim interior of the ball, at 1/2 radius from the center

billard - viser trois quart bille

2/3

billard - viser deux tiers bille

Aim interior of the ball minus 1 CM

billard - viser deux tiers bille

Half ball

billard - viser demi bille

Aim at 1 radius from the center

billard - viser demi bille

1/3

billard - viser tiers bille

1 CM outside of the ball

billard - viser tiers bille

1/4

billard - viser quart bille

Aim at 1/2 radius outside of the ball

billard - viser quart bille

One the board shot

billard - viser finesse bille

Aim at 1 radius outside of the ball

billard - viser finesse bille

TO AIM WITH SIDE EFFECT

Here three tricks to touch a unspecified quantity of ball with side effect:

  1) to aim without effect.
Aim without effect and move the cue on the left or on the right parallel to the line of sight.

  2) to locate the point of contact on the played ball without effect.
Put the side effect and modify the target by aiming at the point of contact

  3) Imagine a tangent line on the right side of the player's ball to visualize the quantity of the played ball

ILLUSTRATION OF THIS 3RD METHOD:

AIMING 1/2 BALL:

To aim 1/2 ball with side effect:

 *  the line of sight must be a tangent at the player's ball passing by the center of the played ball
 * deduction, the touch will be 1/2 ball for any side effect ( left or right side effect ).

AIMING 3/4 OF BALL:

To aim 3/4 ball with side effect:

 * only 1/2 radius of the played ball is situated on the right side of the tangent line at the player's ball
 * deduction, the key touch will be 3/4 ball for any side effect.

TO AIM WITH INCLINED CUE

TRICK 1:

We can proceed in two times:

 * we aim at the desired quantity with flat cue
 * we raise the cue into a vertical axis parallel in the same plan

TRICK 2:

We locate the point of contact on the played ball with flat cue
Then we raise the cue.
We check visually another time that the point of contact is the same than the first one
